Merrel Jean Fitzpatrick

Merrel Jean Fitzpatrick, 77 TANGIER, Va. - Mrs. Merrel Jean Fitzpatrick, 77, wife of the late Peter J. Fitzpatrick and a resident of Tangier, Va., passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Manokin Manor Nursing Home in Princess Anne, Md. Born on Aug. 23, 1932, in Tangier, she was a daughter of the late Merrel E. Crockett and Alma B. Dise Crockett. Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a proofreader for Government Agencies, and was a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include two children, Miles Tull and Joy Denise Fitzpatrick, both of Baltimore; two sisters, Marie C. Evans of Fairport, Va., and Darlene C. Laird of Tangier; a granddaughter, Phyllis Shawn Plitt of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Edward "Bob Bell" Crockett. Funeral services were conducted from the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Patricia Stover and Betty Jane McMann officiating. Cremation followed with interment in the family cemetery on Tangier. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Manokin Manor Nursing Home, 11974 Edgehill Terrace Road, Princess Anne, MD 21853. Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com. Arrangements by the Williams Funeral Homes and Shore Crematory, Parksley and Onancock, Va.
