EASTON — The Academy Art Museum’s Annual Members’ Exhibition: Signs of the Times opens on Dec. 11 featuring over 130 pieces of artwork made by its members, in a wide variety of mediums and styles, ranging from drawing and plein air painting to assemblage and contemporary photography.

“2020 has been a troubling year that has at least brought moments of clarity, togetherness and gratitude for many of our members. Members were asked to contribute imaginative and experimental works in any medium that address how this unique time manifests itself in our personal and shared world,” Curator Mehves Lelic, said.

Matt Klos, an artist, co-director of Exeter Gallery and a professor of Visual Arts at Anne Arundel Community College, will be this year’s juror for the Members’ Exhibition. His painting focuses on still-lifes, interiors and plein-air landscapes. He has also been a recipient of four Individual Artist Awards from the Maryland State Arts Council.

“The submission of so many great pieces to our Members’ Exhibition in such a challenging and unprecedented time speaks to the commitment of our membership to continuing to explore the world through art,” Lelic said.

The exhibition will be on display through Jan. 17, 2021. The Museum, located in Easton, is open daily, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. Visit academyartmuseum.org for further information.

Per city, state, and CDC guidelines, new safety measures have been implemented to ensure limited attendance and adequate space for social distancing. Masks must be worn at all times by participants and instructors.

Prior to visiting the Academy Art Museum, visitors are encouraged to visit AAM’s website to read more about the Museum’s reopening protocols.

Art lovers who aren’t able to visit the Museum at this time can still enjoy virtual tours, activities, talks, and the virtual platform, Art at Home. For additional information, visit academyartmuseum.org or call the Museum at 410-822-2787.
