...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in

Maryland...West Virginia...Virginia...

Potomac River at Hancock affecting Morgan and Washington Counties.

Potomac River at Little Falls affecting Montgomery and Fairfax

Counties.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in

Maryland...West Virginia...Virginia...

Potomac River at Shepherdstown affecting Berkeley, Jefferson and

Washington Counties.

Potomac River at Harpers Ferry affecting Jefferson and Washington

Counties.

Potomac River at Edwards Ferry affecting Montgomery and Loudoun

Counties.

Potomac River at Point of Rocks affecting Frederick and Loudoun

Counties.

For the Potomac River...including Paw Paw, Hancock, Shepherdstown,

Harpers Ferry, Point of Rocks, Edwards Ferry, Little Falls...

Moderate flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive

cars through flooded areas.

The next statement will be issued this afternoon at 130 PM EDT.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE TOMORROW EVENING...

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is

forecast.

* WHERE...Potomac River at Shepherdstown.

* WHEN...Until late tomorrow evening.

* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Water approaches homes on the West

Virginia side of the river near Shepherdstown, and impacts are

also observed on the Maryland side, not just to the C&O Canal

towpath, but also to roads and structures.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

- At 4:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 22.7 feet, or 7.7 feet

above flood stage.

- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours

ending at 4:45 AM EDT Thursday was 22.7 feet.

- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 22.9

feet this morning. It will then fall below flood stage Friday

afternoon.

- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of

23.0 feet on 06/04/2018.

station at the Brunswick boat ramp, and reach the comfort station

at the Point of Rocks boat ramp. The upper parking lot at the

Point of Rocks boat ramp begins to flood.

- At 4:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 21.5 feet, or 5.5 feet

ending at 4:45 AM EDT Thursday was 21.5 feet.

- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 23.6

- Flood stage is 16.0 feet.

* WHERE...Potomac River at Edwards Ferry.

* WHEN...Until early Saturday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, The basements of the Edwards Ferry

Lockhouse and Rileys Lockhouse are flooded. Backwater flooding may

affect homes on the Loudoun County side of the river near Broad

Run in Sterling.

- At 4:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 19.1 feet, or 4.1 feet

ending at 4:45 AM EDT Thursday was 19.1 feet.

- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 21.4

feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage

Saturday morning.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Potomac River at Harpers Ferry.

* WHEN...Until late this evening.

* IMPACTS...At 19.5 feet, Floodwaters begin to cover the old federal

armory site at historic Harpers Ferry. Backwater from the

Shenandoah covers most areas between the normal river channel and

the elevated Winchester & Potomac Railroad tracks.

- At 4:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 19.1 feet, or 1.1 feet

- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.1

feet this morning. It will then fall below flood stage late

this afternoon.

- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring.

* WHERE...Potomac River at Hancock.

* WHEN...Until this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 25.0 feet, Water may begin to inundate low points of

the CSX Railroad tracks on the West Virginia side of the river due

to backwater. Additionally, access to Potomac Airpark may be

restricted due to backwater. Water reaches the top of the Hancock

boat ramp and begins to spill over into the adjacent parking lot.

- At 4:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 25.7 feet, or 0.7 feet

ending at 4:45 AM EDT Thursday was 26.3 feet.

- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage

this morning and continue falling to 14.0 feet early Sunday

morning.

- Flood stage is 25.0 feet.

* IMPACTS...At 12.0 feet, The C&O Canal overflows at the Great Falls

Tavern. Water covers the towpath in many areas.

- At 4:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 9.9 feet, or 0.1 feet

below flood stage.

- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage

early this morning to a crest of 12.2 feet this evening. It

will then fall below flood stage Friday evening.

- Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
