The Flood Watch is cancelled for

the Potomac River at Little Falls

and has been replaced with a Flood Warning.

- At 9:45 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 4.7 feet, or 5.3 feet

below flood stage.

- Forecast...Flood stage may be reached tomorrow morning.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Potomac River at Hancock.

* WHEN...From this afternoon to tomorrow morning.

* IMPACTS...At 25.0 feet, Water may begin to inundate low points of

the CSX Railroad tracks on the West Virginia side of the river due

to backwater. Additionally, access to Potomac Airpark may be

restricted due to backwater. Water reaches the top of the Hancock

boat ramp and begins to spill over into the adjacent parking lot.

- At 10:00 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 23.0 feet, or 2.0

feet below flood stage.

- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage

this afternoon to a crest of 25.4 feet this evening. It will

then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight.

- Flood stage is 25.0 feet.

- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of

25.4 feet on 05/19/2011.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring.

* WHERE...North Branch Potomac River near Cumberland.

* WHEN...Until this evening.

* IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, A low spot on Airport Road in Wiley Ford,

West Virginia is flooded. A livestock field southeast of the

Cumberland Regional Airport floods.

- At 10:00 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 20.6 feet, or 3.6

feet above flood stage.

- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours

ending at 10:00 AM EDT Wednesday was 22.5 feet.

- Forecast...The river will fall below flood stage this

afternoon to 12.3 feet just after midnight tonight. It will

then rise to 13.1 feet tomorrow morning. It will fall to 9.0

feet Friday morning. It will then rise to 9.2 feet early

Friday afternoon. It will fall again and remain below flood

stage.

- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.

bridge begins to flood. The roadway to the C&O Canal parking area

floods, as does the lowest end of the Purslane Run hiker/biker

area.

At 26.0 feet, Water covers an access road on the West Virginia side.

- At 10:00 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 27.1 feet, or 2.1

ending at 10:00 AM EDT Wednesday was 27.1 feet.

- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 28.6

feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage just

after midnight tonight.

* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Water approaches homes on the West

Virginia side of the river near Shepherdstown, and impacts are

also observed on the Maryland side, not just to the C&O Canal

towpath, but also to roads and structures.

- At 10:00 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 10.1 feet, or 4.9

late this afternoon to a crest of 21.8 feet just after

midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage Friday

afternoon.

- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

towpath near Point of Rocks and Brunswick.

At 23.0 feet, Floodwaters completely cover the comfort station at

the Brunswick boat ramp, and reach the comfort station at the

Point of Rocks boat ramp. The upper parking lot at the Point of

Rocks boat ramp begins to flood.

- At 9:45 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 4.6 feet, or 11.4 feet

late this evening to a crest of 22.9 feet tomorrow morning.

It will then fall below flood stage Friday afternoon.

- Flood stage is 16.0 feet.

between the Washington Aqueduct Dam and Pennyfield Lock, mileposts

15 to 19 on the C&O Canal.

At 12.0 feet, The C&O Canal overflows at the Great Falls Tavern.

Water covers the towpath in many areas.

tomorrow morning to a crest of 11.8 feet tomorrow evening. It

will then fall below flood stage Friday afternoon.

The Flood Warning is cancelled for a portion of western Maryland,

including the following area, Allegany.
