Mary Virginia Hayes

REIDS GROVE - Mary Virginia "Mary Ginny" Hayes, 83, departed this life on March 24, 2011, at her home in Reids Grove. Mary Ginny was born Feb 3, 1928, in Hawkeye, to the late Ollie Sr. and Mary Coleman. She was educated in Dorchester County Public Schools. Mary Ginny held various jobs, until 1963 were she gained employment at Harper and Bateman Inc., which became B & G. There she served as a packer until her retirement in 1993. Mary Ginny was a devoted and lifelong member of Zoar United Methodist Church in Reids Grove. Her enjoyment was attending church services, cooking, shopping with her sister and spending time talking to friends and family, but most of all talking with her children. On April 17, 1971, she was united in matrimony to the late Willie J. Hayes. Throughout this union they raised nine children. In addition to her parents, husband, several grandchildren, she was preceded in death by three children, Oliver Coleman, Evelyn Payne, and Brenda Coleman. She is survived by a daughter, Nona Tillery (Keith); five sons, Willis Wayne (Denice), Timothy, all of Rhodesdale, Jerry (Wanda) of Cambridge, Everick (Karen) of Odenton, , and Craig (Theresa) of Salisbury; a brother, Ollie Coleman Jr. (Pearl) of East New Market; a sister, Helen Washington of Rhodesdale; 35 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; one uncle, George Coleman (Bertha); two aunts, Nona Jackson and Ruth Rideout; a son in-law, Ernest Payne; two daughters-in-law, Mary Coleman and Sheila Coleman; a close family friend, Theresa Farrow; and also a host of other family and lifelong friends. Funeral services were 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Zion UM Church, 4903 Maiden Forest Rd., Rhodesdale, with a viewing Tuesday evening 6 to 8 p.m., at the church.
