Born in Detroit, Mich., on March 22, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John and Rose Pleciak. Her husband, Frank Sarna, died in May of 1992. Mary moved here eight years ago and had volunteered at McCready Hospital in Crisfield. In earlier years she worked in an aircraft plant during World War II. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed crafting and baking. She became known as the "Pie Lady" at the Farmer's Market in Princess Anne where she had a baked goods table since the first year it began until 2007. Mary was a member of the Women of the Moose and St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, both in Westover. A son, Jerome Sarna and a son-in-law, Richard White, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn White of Shelby Township, Mich., Maryanne White and her husband Thomas of Ft. Mill, S.C., and Rosemarie Bryant and her husband Grant of Westover; six grandchildren, Kristina, Kerry, Kelly, Thomas, Jerome and Teresa; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Westover. Father William Porter will conduct the service. Immediately following the service a reception will be held at the Moose Lodge in Westover. Interment was held at St. Columbkille Cemetery in Michigan on Sept. 2.
