EASTON - Mary Rachel Thomas, 67, passed away on Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at the House of Pines in Easton, after a brief illness.

She was born in Hurlock, daughter of the late Ester Cornish and Franklin Conway Sr.

Mrs. Thomas attended school in Dorchester County, graduating from Mace"s Lane High School with the class of 1957. She worked for Pasco Pickle Co., Harper & Bateman and Solo Cup. She retired from Dececco in Rhodesdale.

She was a member of Hurlock United Methodist Church. She loved to cook and have family gatherings.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Henry Thomas. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Palmer of Hurlock; two daughters, Jacqueline and Gwendolyn Cornish of Hurlock; stepdaughters, Bernice Beasley (Eddie), Diane Travers of Cambridge; a stepson, Ronald Adams (Brenda) of Dakota Texas; grandchildren: Deante, Deshon, Lanell, Shalondra Cornish of Hurlock; one great-grandson, Jailen Cornish; six stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; two god daughters, Karen Rhodes, Lanae Bailey; two godsons, Kevin Sampson and Bryan Farrow. Mrs. Thomas is also survived by a special aunt, Mary E. Farrow (James); seven sisters-in-law, Rosalla Camper of St. Michaels, Ann Thomas of Federalsburg, Vietta Allen, Velma Gibbs (Elijah), Annie Murray (George), and Flossie Conway, all of Hurlock; a brother-in-law, Vincent Thomas (Mildred) of Odenton; close friends, Rose Walls, Karen Evans, Geraldine Thweatt, Dolly Rhodes and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her foster mother, Caroline Wilson; two brothers,

Orville Camper, Franklin Conway Jr.; two sisters, Normalee Cornish, Annie Mae Parker; two brother-in-laws, Wilmer Palmer and James Parker, and a sister-in-law, Virginia Cooper.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday at the Hurlock United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Maryland Veterans" Cemetery at Beulah.

A viewing will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, and from 11 a.m. to noon at the church preceding services on Friday.

Arrangements are being handled by the Bennie Smith Funeral Home.
