FRUITLAND - Mary Elizabeth Jones Gillespie died Dec. 20, 2014, at her home in Fruitland with Hospice Care beside her. Born on Nov. 27, 1927, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Griffin and Ida Truitt. She worked for Wawa and will always be remembered as a hard worker, as she spent her entire life doing all that she could to provide food and shelter for her children. She loved fishing and needle work. Following the death of her first husband, she met Tom Gillespie, who gave her the wonderful life that she deserved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marion Jones, Sr.; her second husband, Tom Gillespie; a son, Jack Jones, who died a few days after his birth; and one brother, Elmer Truitt. She is survived by seven children, Betty Merritt, Barbara Adkins, Linda Taylor, Nancy Mills, Marion Jones, Jr., Rosemary Frost and Bruce W. Jones; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a few great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Floyd, Luke, Pete and Earl; and one sister, Lucille. A memorial service was held Friday at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
