Mary E. 'Bootsie' Meredith, 88

FEDERALSBURG, Md. -- Mary Elizabeth "Bootsie" Meredith of Federalsburg passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at William Hill Manor, Easton. She was 88. She was born March 29, 1920, and was raised in the Oak Grove, Del., area. She was daughter of the late Frank and Lyda Mae Moore Blades. Her husband, Wright "Tony" Meredith preceded her in death. She was employed by the Town of Federalsburg as a town clerk for more than 25 years. She was a member for the past 64 years at Christ United Methodist Church in Federalsburg where she was very active. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Senior Choir and Philathea Circle. She served in the nursery for many years and taught Bible school. She was very active in local fund raising activities for the American Heart Association Caroline County Unit, and also in the American Cancer Society. She is survived by two children, Judith A. Gregory and her husband Paul of Charlottesville, Va., and Larry A. Meredith and his wife Susan of East New Market; four grandsons, Todd Meredith, Neil Gregory, Curtis Gregory and Ryan Meredith; four great-grandchildren, Marina, Brennan, Trevor and Izzie; and many nieces and nephews. She was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. Funeral services were Tuesday at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Rev. Dan Walker and the Rev. Karen Bongard officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to a charity of choice.
