Mary E. Jenkins

CAMBRIDGE - Mary E. Jenkins passed away on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Hallwood, Va., on Feb. 26, 1925 and was a daughter of the late Jessie and Lelia Lang Tull. On Feb. 11, 1946 she married Phillip T. "Tom" Jenkins, Sr., who passed away on Dec. 12, 1997. Mrs. Jenkins was a sales lady for many years at Edgar's & Frank Wright's Clothing Store. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cambridge and the Cambridge Elks. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Jenkins is preceded in death by a son, Phillip T. Jenkins, Jr.; a sister, Thelm Bayly; and two brothers, Matthew Tull and Edward Tull. She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Johnson and husband, Sarge, of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Phillip T. Jenkins, III (Stephanie) and Amy Patterson (Steve); four great-grandchildren, Josh Cook, Shelby Cook (Abby), Brooke Jenkins, and Ryan Patterson; and a great-great-grandson, Jonathan Schwartz. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Steve Trice officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church, 501 Glenburn Avenue, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
