CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Mary Alverta Hazel Wilson Molock quietly and peacefully slipped away into eternity Oct. 5, 2011, at the Mallard Bay Signature Care Health Center in Cambridge. Hazel was born in Fork Neck, Md., to the late Stephen Benjamin and Mary L. Young Wilson on April 15, 1918. She was the seventh child of nine children and one adopted child all preceding her in death. In 1934, Hazel married the love her life, the late Levin Wesley Molock III. Four children were born from this union. They enjoyed sixty-one year of marriage living most of them on a farm in Fork Neck. Hazel was raised in a Christian home. She loved the Lord and gave her life to Jesus at an early age in the former Waters Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church presently, Waters United Methodist Church. In her early thirties God called her to preach his gospel. She received her early educational training in the public school system in Dorchester County and later her ministerial training from Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina and various correspondence courses. Following in her father's footsteps, Hazel became a local preacher delivering her first sermon in 1949 under the pastorship of the late Van Buren Wright. As a local preacher she served two times as an interim pastor of Waters Chapel M.E. and Waters U.M. Church. She also served in many other capacities: the church secretary, treasurer, a class leader, member of the Wilson Chorus, chairperson of the former Women's Christian Society and the United Methodist Women, a member of the senior and combined choirs and many other church organizations. She also held offices on the Easton District of the Delaware and Peninsula Conferences and served as the chaplain of the Good Shepherds Organization in Cambridge for many years. Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm, song - "Can't Nobody Do Me Like Jesus" and sayings - "I'll fan you" and Fork Neck "The garden spot of the world." Hazel had four loves, serving God, traveling the roads, attending funeral and fellowshipping with people especially her family, friends, church members or anyone she came in contact with whether she knew them or not. During her younger years she was an excellent cook, preparing her famous homemade soups, fresh garden greens, roasts, cakes and yeast rolls. She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Evelyn Musgrove (Willingboro, N.J.), Geraldine (LeRoy) Smith (Thorofare, N.J. and Rulene Molock (Cambridge); one daughter-in-law, Delores Molock (Fork Neck); six grandchildren, David (Jerri) Musgrove, Gene Musgrove, Gary (Liz) Smith, Deborah Vines, Lisa Smith and Rudolph Jr. (Voncia) Molock; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Rudolph O. Molock, Sr.; two grandsons, Richard and Ira Musgrove; and one son-in-law, Rev. R.C. Musgrove. Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Waugh Chapel UM Church, 425 High St., Cambridge, with a viewing Wednesday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
