Marie A. Mills, 88

MADISON - Marie A. Mills, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, in Dorchester General Hospital. She was 88. She was born in Fishing Creek on July 20, 1920, and was a daughter of the late Nelson and Anita Abbott Brittingham. Mrs. Mills attended schools in South Dorchester. She had worked at various sewing factories. Mrs. Mills was married to the late Harvey Mills. Mrs. Mills loved her cat. Some of her hobbies were sewing and cooking. She was a life time member of Madison Volunteer Fire Company and a life time member of Madison United Methodist Church. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Mills is preceded in death by a son, William Harvey Mills Jr.; a sister, Ann Mathias; and two brothers, Harold and Nelson Brittingham. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Willey and husband Leroy, of Madison; three brothers, Edward Brittingham, of Church Creek, George Brittingham, of East New Market, and Allan Brittingham, of Church Creek; two sisters, Frances Phillips, and Mary Draper, both of Salisbury; a close family friend, Jean Ann Wielgosz, of Secretary; many nieces and nephews; and her close community friends. Pallbearers will be David Frazier, Sammy Horseman, Barry Wingate, Charles Moore, Raymond Aaron, and Phillip Frazier. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge, with Rev. Robert G. Kirkley officiating. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Madison Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 23, Madison, MD 21648; or to Madison United Methodist Church, c/o Bonnie Abend, P.O. Box 6, Madison, MD 21648.
