POCOMOKE CITY - Margaret Sumner Hill died Saturday, April 14, 2018, surrounded by her family at Berlin Nursing home. Born in Atlantic City, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Sumner Sr. and Vera Martinez. She graduated from Granby High School in Norfolk, and at age 55 returned to school to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. For more than 20 years, she worked as an Emergency Room and operating nurse at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where she was named "Employee of the Year" in 1983. After retirement, she volunteered at the hospital for nine years, totaling over 4,000 hours of service. She was the Public Relations Representative for the hospital's Board of Directors. She is survived by seven children, Robin Joseph and Melody Gillespie of Pocomoke City, John Hill of Delmar, Candy Baer of Ocean City, Lance Hill of Owensboro, Ky., Chris Hill of Salisbury and Kelly Bulin of Onancock; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Ellen Vecchietti; and her brothers, Floyd Sumner Jr. and John Martinez. A mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Pocomoke City. Interment was in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Pocomoke City. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City.
