CAMBRIDGE - On Tuesday, October 29, 2019 a deputy responded to 1735 Dark Road, Cambridge and made contact with a 51-year-old man. The suspect became agitated and allegedly assaulted the deputy, who was forced to defend himself, a statement from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office said.

Michael Parks Mullikin was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest and hindering a police officer in the performance of his duties. He was ordered held without bond.

The confrontation was over the deputy's attempt to serve a civil protective order, the statement said.
