Lynn Robinson Burse Sr.

ORANGE PARK, FLA - Lynn Robinson Burse, Sr., 78, died on Oct. 5, 2011 in Orange Park, Fla. Born on May 13, 1933 in Erie, Pa., he was the son of Mary E. Burse and John Schere, both deceased. He resided in Erie until 1967, then moved to Maryland from 1967-2004. He moved to Orange Park to live with his daughter from 2004-2011 and became a resident of The Terrace at Fleming Island in July of 2011. Lynn Burse worked for Seaway Aluminum in Erie and later worked as a private contractor and carpenter by trade until he retired at age 72. Lynn was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Erie. Lynn enjoyed NASCAR, playing poker, fishing, boating and duck hunting. Lynn also enjoyed going to Walmart to chat with employees and going to McDonalds in Doctors Inlet in the morning to meet with friends. He liked watching classic westerns, going to auctions, and going to Ocean City, Md., as well as visiting his granddaughter, Jennifer and her husband Steve often to chat. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Norma (Kessler) Dembinski; his grandparents, Anna and Harris Burse; and his sister, Margaret Cratty. Surviving Lynn are his children, Lynnette (Burse) Szczepura, Susan (Burse) Cramer, Victoria (Burse) Preister and Lynn R. Burse, Jr.; his grandchildren, Jennifer Halulko, Christie Carr, Melinda Cousins, Shanna Wilson, Melissa Shaffer, Jeff Robbins, Ashley Burse and Malori Burse; great-grandchildren; Laina, Connor, Aislynn, Teja, Trent, Madalyn, Colton, Kaiylah; he is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Shaw, Donna Hime and Charlene Huyck; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073 (904) 264-1233. His daughter, Lynnette, would like to thank The Terrace of Fleming Island and Haven Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion during this stressful time. She would especially like to thank her colleagues of the management team for their support and kindness; they treated her as family. A special thanks to Cheryl Kearns, LPN; Vivian Williams, CNA; Josh Page in Physical Therapy; Michelle Scott, A.R.N.P. and Dr. Rajesh K. Vishen, MD, for their wonderful care during Lynn's illness and residency at the facility. I am sure God will hold them forever in his hands.
