Lula May Phillips

CAMBRIDGE - Lula May Phillips passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Cambridge on Oct. 20, 1921 and was a daughter of the late Darcy H. and Naomi Insley Hurley. She attended schools in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1939. On Aug. 23, 1941 she was married to Thomas D. Phillips, who passed away on Nov. 24, 2013. She had worked at Home Beautiful in Cambridge with her husband for a number of years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cambridge. She had enjoyed taking pictures for many years, spending time with her grandchildren and working with her computer. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Dorchester Post # 91 American Legion. She also enjoyed lunching with members of her graduating class and working on class reunions. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Phillips is preceded in death by a sister, Doris Thomas; and a half-sister, Ann Jackson Blackburn. Survivors include two daughters, Gail N. Todd (Richard), of Cambridge, and Connie E. Pardoe (Sam), of Cordova; four grandchildren, Ricky Todd (Julie), Randy Todd (Kim), Mark Palamaras, Jr. (Kara), and Lisa Maki (Jeff); two great-grandchildren, Amanda L. Colbourn and Nickco Palamaras; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017 at 12 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Friendship United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
