CAMBRIDGE - Luella Adkins Dail, 89, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 at the Dorchester General Hospital.

She was born in Dorchester County on Nov. 21, 1918 and was a daughter of the late Samuel Hooper and Mary Frances Langford Adkins.

She attended schools in Dorchester. On Dec. 24, 1941 she was married to William Herbert Dail. Mr. Dail passed away on Sept 12, 1986.

Some years ago she had worked at Rob Roy in Cambridge and later worked for Western Publishing in Cambridge. Mrs. Dail worked as an Avon representative.

Mrs. Dail was a member of Spedden United Methodist Church and the WSCS and had also been a member of the Neck District Homemakers Club. She enjoyed crocheting and doing needlework.

Mrs. Dail had been in failing health for the past 18 months and was taken to Dorchester General Hospital on Saturday evening.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn D. Wright of Cambridge, Connie D. Johnson and her husband, Ronnie Johnson of Cambridge and Diana D. Mills and her husband, Roy E. Mills of Cambridge; one son William H. "Bill" Dail Jr. of Bedford, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grand children; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 stepgranddaughters; 1 stepgrandson; 7 stepgreat-grandchildren and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; a sister. Pauline Bradford of Cambridge; a sister-in-law, Mickey Dail; a brother-in-law, Jack McClain and his wife, Doris, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by several special care givers.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel C. Adkins, William Adkins and Arlington H. Adkins and six sisters, Sarah Brown Adkins (a twin to Luella, who died at birth), Lillie Willey, Katharine "Katie" Hubbard, Roberta "Bertie" Barnes, Agnes Adkins and Mary Frances Wingate.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Pam Bockart and the Rev. David L. Kreek officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Roy E. Mills Jr., Mark B. Mills, Michael P. Mills, Tommy Moore, Wayne Moore and David Dail.
