CAMBRIDGE – Even with businesses, it’s not always about making money. Sometimes, it’s about giving things away. Volunteers demonstrated that again this year, with their Dorchester Santa Toy Drive. “We are an organization formed by business owners and young community members to support the Salvation Army in bringing joy to family’s lives at Christmas,” a statement from the group said. Local business owners filled boxes and even trucks with gifts, toys and helpful items to make the holidays a brighter time for needy families. “It’s such a priceless experience when you get the opportunity to bring together the community in which you live to make a family’s Christmas extra special,” a statement from organizers said. “Thank you Clay Brooks from J.M. Clayton’s for lending a helping hand, Michael Wheatley, the Dorchester Chamber, the Young Professionals of Dorchester County, Downtown Cambridge and Jon Warfield for the countless hours you devote to our community, and most importantly, all the local businesses and elves who make this possible.” April Dean Goodman, Jeff Hurley and the Maryland Towing & Recovery Professionals Organization, Clayton Brooks and Mandy Lubiniecki also participated with substantial donations to the cause. “It means so much to see younger professionals teaching their family what life and looking after others is all about,” the statement said. “Our community is tough to beat.
