EAST NEW MARKET - Linda W. Hurley, 58, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after a brief illness.

Born on April 9, 1948, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Wainwright of Salisbury.

Mrs. Hurley received both a bachelor's and master's degree from Salisbury University. She taught history, English, and Spanish in the Dorchester County public school system for 36 years until the time of her death.

Her interests included traveling, history, and participating in family activities. She was involved in many school activities and served on the board of directors for the Willie J. Sydnor Scholarship Fund.

Mrs. Hurley is survived by her husband, John, and daughters, Susan and Ashley of East New Market; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Michelle Wainwright; nephew and niece, Ross and Mallory Wainwright, all of Salisbury; mother-in-law, Emily Thomas and sister-in-law Brenda Hurley, both of Cambridge.

A small private service will be held for family members. The family will receive friends and visitors at the Dorchester School of Technology, 2465 Cambridge Bypass, Cambridge, on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Patricia H. Hopkins Scholarship Fund or to the Willie J. Sydnor Scholarship Fund both at North Dorchester High School, 5875 Cloverdale Road, Hurlock, MD 21643.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.
