Lillian M. Barr

SALISBURY - Lillian M. Barr died Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Russell County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ruie and Rosie Brown. She worked as a school bus aide for Holloway Transit and for several shirt factories for many years. She was a member of the Mount Hermon Lions Club, Powellville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and was a member of Salisbury Baptist Temple. She enjoyed singing and playing her guitar for the residents at local nursing homes. She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Barr; sons, Burley Wayne Slate, of Quantico, and Bobby J. Elswick, of Parsonsburg; a stepson, Robert K. Barr; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Charlie William Brown; sisters, Shirley Brown and Wilma Keen; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Isaac Elswick, and a grandson. A funeral service was held Monday, May 16, 2016, at Salisbury Baptist Temple. Interment followed in Pittsville Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury.
