CAMBRIDGE — The American Legion Dorchester Post 91 in Cambridge, recently donated over $29,400 to the Veterans Affairs (VA) Maryland Health Care System to benefit Veteran patients throughout the state.

The Post donated $14,479 to the Cambridge VA Outpatient Clinic, a division of the health care system, to purchase coffee and coffee supplies for Veteran patients to enjoy while they are waiting for their clinic appointments and for new equipment and supplies to benefit direct patient care needs.

Additionally, the post donated $7,000 to purchase five new specialized transport wheelchairs to support the needs of Veteran patients at the Baltimore VA Medical Center; $5,000 to purchase new patio furniture for benefit of Veteran residents at the Loch Raven VA Community Living & Rehabilitation Center; and $3,000 to send Veteran patients from the Perry Point VA Medical Center to the VA National Therapeutic Games.

“The American Legion Dorchester Post 91 has been instrumental in supporting the needs of Maryland’s Veterans for many years,” said R. David Edwards, chief of Public & Community Relations for the VA Maryland Health Care System. “After the post experienced a devastating fire earlier this year, it is incredible to see that they are still determined to help enhance the services and programs we provide to our nation’s heroes.”
