LaVerne Kemp Burall

PRINCESS ANNE - LaVerne Kemp Burall, 85, of Princess Anne died Tuesday July 12, 2016 at Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 17, 1931 she was the daughter of Charles Briggs and Rosa Beck of Lexington, N.C. LaVerne was married to Robert "Bob" G. Kemp for 37 years until his death in 1987 and was remarried in 1997 to Walter LeRoy "Buzz" Burall until his death in 2011. LaVerne was a member and past Regent of the Frederick Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also also a member of Bush Creek Church of the Brethren where she served as a deaconess and on other church committees. LaVerne was a proud member of New Market Grange #362 and an advocate for the Frederick County Chapter Alliance for Mental Illness. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In Princess Anne, LaVerne was a loyal member of Antioch Methodist Church and participated in the church choir, in the BYKOTA club, as a Sunday School teacher and coordinator for the Vacation Bible School Program. She was also a member of the Republican Women's Club and was a leader for the Somerset County 4-H & Youth Club. Surviving are her three children, Karen Kemp Docksteader and husband Gerry of Chestertown, Anne Kemp Buttar and husband Glen of Wellington, New Zealand and son, Robert "Rob" H. Kemp of Princess Anne; grandchildren, Daniel R. Arrington, IV, wife Mary and great-grandchildren Charlotte and Owen, Robert "Bobby" J. Kemp, wife Sarah and great-granddaughter Lillian, Brittany Kemp Nottingham, husband John and great-granddaughter Ellie, James "JW" W. Arrington, Colleen Kemp, Neall Kemp and her many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are step-children, Scott P. Burall and wife Darlene of New Market, Nancy Burger and husband Rick of Falling Waters, W.Va., Michael L. Burall and wife Annabelle of Frederick, and their children and grand-children. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Hinman Funeral Home, 11673 Somerset Ave., Princess Anne, Md. Her memorial service will be the same day at Hinman's at 1 p.m. with Reverend Dale Vroman officiating. Refreshments will be served after the service at Antioch Methodist Church inside the main building. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Antioch Methodist Church, 11656 Somerset Ave., Princess Anne, MD 21853 or to Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821 Green Valley Rd., Monrovia, MD 21770.
