CAMBRIDGE - Larry Darnell Cephas Sr., 55, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2007.
He was born June 3, 1951 to Mary Virginia Cephas and WeeJay Cephas. He received his education in the Dorchester County public school system, graduating from Mace's Lane High School with the class of 1969. He held various jobs with the last being the Dorchester County Highway Department.
He attended various churches within the community. Mr. Cephas was in the U.S. Army, Military Police School, later transferring to the Army National Guard Reserve.
He was also a member of the American Legion Post 87, Sons of the American Legion and the Democrat softball team.
His hobbies were fishing, softball and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Cephas is survived by his mother, Mary Virginia Cephas (Joseph) of Cambridge; his father, WeeJay Cephas (Edith) of New Castle, Del.; two daughters, April Pinkett of Cambridge and Sherika Elliott of Salisbury; four sons, Larry Cephas Jr. and Donis Cephas both of Cambridge, Levone Lee of Alexandria, Va. and Laron Elliott of Boston; two stepdaughters, Christine Jones (Dontra) and Imani Beckett of Cambridge; a stepson, James Ennals (Tonya) of Salisbury; two sisters, Deborah Cephas of Cambridge and Valerie Meades of Wilmington, Del.; a brother, Kevin Barnes of Wilmington, Del.; nine grandchildren; two great-aunts, Catherine Bryan and Viola Pinkett, both of Cambridge; four uncles, Cleamon (Doris) and Elton Cephas, both of Fork Neck, Theodore H. Cephas (Ernestine) of Vienna and Arnold P. Cephas (Joyce) of Fort Washington; three aunts, Shirley Butler of Fort Washington, Shelby Jean Fenwick (Jessie) of Baltimore and Jeanette Cephas of Yonkers, N.Y. and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend and caregiver, Sarah Kane.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at Bethel AME Church, 623 Pine St., Cambridge with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Burial will follow in Bucktown Cemetery. The Rev. William Hitchens will officiate.
Arrangements are being handled by Henry Funeral Home, PA.
