EASTON -- Larry Charles Griffin, 68, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at the Memorial Hospital in Easton.
He was born May 29, 1938 in Centreville. He attended Queen Anne"s County Public Schools and was a graduate of Kennard High School.
Mr. Griffin served in the National Guard where he received an honorable discharge. For many years he was employed for Con Agra which is now referred to as Allen Foods. Before his illness, he worked for the Dorchester County Public Schools.
His hobbies were dancing, traveling and talking with old and meeting new friends.
Mr. Griffin had been a member of the Samuel T. Hemsley Elks Lodge for over 25 years where he was known as "Grip." He has held various titles within the organization such as Esquire, Past Chief Antler and Assistant Esquire for Tri-State to name a few. He also loved being a part of the Honor Guard as well as the Cavaliers and Tri-State.
He attended church in his earlier years at Earl"s Chapel in Corsica Neck in Centreville. While residing in Cambridge he attended Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church. Upon his return to Easton, he attended Kingdom Fire Worship Center.
Mr. Griffin is survived by a devoted friend, Geneva Stanley; two sons, Gary Griffin (Gayle) and Clint Bordley (Angela), both of Easton; Valerie Ellis of Federalsburg, who was like a daughter; five sisters, Barbara Whittington (Bernard), Mary Ann Dobson (Elmer), Penny Adams, Anna Jackson and Jennifer Jones (Richard), all of Centreville; three brothers, Arthur Griffin and Charles King (Judy), all of Centreville and William King Jr. of Virginia; seven grandchildren, Monique, Tobias, Nikendra, Cyia, Mark, Markkeisha and Bri"Asia and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, a sister, Jean Wilmer preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at Centreville Community Church. Burial will follow in Chesterfield Cemetery in Centreville).
There will be a viewing Friday evening at the church from 6-8. Elk memorial services will begin at 7 p.m.
Arrangements are being handled by the Henry Funeral Home, PA, in Cambridge.
