Kay Cheezum PRESTON - Kay Frances Thomas Cheezum died peacefully with her family at her side on June 9, 2010. She was 70 years old. Born in Cambridge on July 8, 1939, she was the daughter of the late James M. Thomas and Pauline Townsend Alberson. She attended Cambridge High School. On September 30, 1966, she married Eugene N. Cheezum, who passed away in 2006. She worked as an assembler at Black and Decker for 15 years, and then worked at the Aspen Institute. Mrs. Cheezum had a large, loving family and was a devoted grandmother. She had a caring and giving nature, and she opened her home to all her friends and family. Her humor will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Cheezum and his wife, Dawn, of Preston; her daughter, Bonnie Lahman and her husband, J.R., of Preston; her step-children, Maxine McClyment, Jeanne Roe, and Eugene Cheezum, II, all of Preston; her sisters, Judy Thomas of Easton and Pam Love of Linkwood; her grandchildren, Jason Christopher, Katie Christopher Kohr, Jared Lahman, Christopher Hall, Bryan Cheezum, and Travis Cheezum, all of Preston; her great-grandchildren, Ryley Christopher and Ryleigh Hall, both of Preston; and many step grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James Thomas and Jerry Thomas; and a sister, Sharon Downes. A funeral service was held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Easton, MD. Burial was held at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veteran's Cemetery. Pall bearers; Jason Christopher, Jared Lahman, Christopher Hall, J.R. Lahman, Scott Simmons, and Troy Plutschak.
