CAMBRIDGE — “Women in the World: The Impact of the 19th Amendment,” is the July exhibition in the galleries at DCA. This exhibit was organized by local artist Lori Dever, to reflect the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which was signed into law in August 2020 – recognizing women’s right to vote after nearly 100 years of protest.

Eleven women are exhibiting in the show: Karen Bearman, Elissa Crouch, Lori Dever, Maureen Farrell, Leslie Giles, Katie Hurley, Lisa Krentel, Theresa Knight McFadden, MaryAnn Schindler, Linda Starling, and Carrie Ann Wrightson. “Women in the World” runs through July 25. Gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday, noon-6 p.m. A virtual Second Saturday Reception will be held via Facebook live on July 11, 5:30 p.m., with an exhibit tour and talks by participating artists.

Additionally, The League of Women Voters of the Mid-Shore have organized a project in partnership with Downtown Cambridge businesses to coincide with this exhibit. Look for a display of sashes similar to those worn by American suffragists in support of the 19th Amendment. At various stops along Poplar and Race Streets, windows show the purple, white and gold “Votes for Women” sashes made by Cambridge quilter Anne McAnulty.
