DELMAR - Julia Pierce Palmer died at home on Thursday, July 26, 2018, with her family at her side. Born in Cochecton Center, N.Y., her parents were the late Katherine and Charles Pierce.
She graduated from Narrowsburg Central School and attended New Paltz State College in the Fine Arts Program. She worked for C&P Telephone Co. in Idetown, Pa. She was a life member of Optimist International and an active member of The Optimist Club of Salisbury, where she served on the "Golf for Kids Sake" committee. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where chaired the "Lap Robe for Veterans Program" for the Salisbury Chapter. She created unique pieces of jewelry from semi-precious stones that she sold at various craft fairs under the Julia's Gems banner.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Palmer; her daughters, Brenda Desormeaux, Deborah Bell and Pamela Palmer; her son, Charles W. Palmer; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Melvin and Edward Pierce.
A funeral service will be held today, Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with the Rev. E. Wayne Holland officiating. A committal service will follow at the Eastern Shore Maryland Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock.
