EASTON - Joyce W. Taylor, of Easton, died on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 82. Born July 15, 1926, in Easton she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Mary Helen Hubbard Walls. She was a 1943 graduate of Easton High School. Following graduation she worked as a telephone operator for C & P Telephone Company. During World War II she traveled to Army camps throughout Maryland, where she served as a telephone operator to support the war effort. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va. On May 14, 1949, she married Norris E. Taylor; in Easton together they formed a successful contracting and concrete business. At the time of her death, Mrs. Taylor was Vice President of N.E. Taylor Contractors, Inc. of Easton. She was a member of various organizations including St. Mark's women church circle where she was a member and a former Sunday School teacher. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Taylor is survived by three children, Lorraine Claggett and her husband Laurence Jr. of Easton, Patricia Goodman and her husband Jeffery of Alexandria, Va., and Norris E. Taylor Jr. and his wife Shelly of Easton; two sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Walls Cooper of Salisbury, and Roxanna Walls Macindoe of Easton; and six grandchildren, Katie, Sarah, Caroline, Michael, Laura and Matthew. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles B. Walls Jr.; and twin sons, William and Howard. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., Easton, where friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery, Easton. Memorial donations may be made to the Easton Volunteer Fire Dept. Ambulance Fund, 315 Aurora Park Dr., Easton, MD 21601; or Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Dr., Easton, MD 21601.
