CRISFIELD - Joyce R. Gerald, 87, passed away on Feb. 11, 2007, at Maryview Nursing Care Center in Suffolk, Va.
She was a native of Crisfield, Md., and the daughter of the late Eva Byrd Massey and George Elton Massey. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Edward Gerald, who passed away in 1996.
Mrs. Gerald was a longtime employee of the state of Maryland and a member of Immanuel Methodist Church in Crisfield where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her brother, George E. Massey, Jr., and his wife Margaret of Crisfield; her only child, Diane Brunk, and her husband, Peter, of Portsmouth, Va.; and two grandsons, Berry Brunk and his wife, Susie, of Redmond, Wash., and Gerry Brunk and his wife, Dawn, of Weston, Mass. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Skylar Starr Brunk, of Weston, Mass. Other survivors are two step great-granddaughters, three step great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
At her request, there was no viewing or flowers.
A graveside service and burial was held on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. Pastor Bill Davis officiated.
Those who choose to do so may make a memorial contribution in her name to Immanuel Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Mr. Robert Bradshaw Jr., 306 W. Main St., Crisfield, MD 21817 or a charity of their choice.
Arrangements were in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
