SALISBURY - Joseph "Joe" Moreno died at his home surrounded by his loving family on Jan. 19, 2017. Born and raised in Parsons, Kan., he was a son of the late Dolores D. and Vicente Guillen Moreno. He began his career with the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Kansas, eventually relocating his family to Salisbury in 1967. He worked for a few other manufacturing companies in and around Salisbury, before retiring in 1992 from Schmidt Baking Co. in Baltimore as Chief Plant Engineer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a volunteer fireman at Salisbury headquarters for nearly 20 years. An active member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, he and his wife received the Annual Merit Award for their volunteer work in 2012. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Mary, Pauline, Emma; and his brother, Jesse. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eunice; eight children, Phillip Moreno, Richard Moreno, Lisa Townsend, Jackie Maull, Kathy Hobbs, David Moreno, Terry Moreno, Mary Muninger; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, David Moreno, of Parsons, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. Burial followed at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
