John Riggin

DELMAR - John Calvin Riggin, II died Friday, Mar. 10, 2017, at his home in Delmar. Born on Dec, 4, 1946, in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Rachel Costen Lappin, and Joseph Lappin.
He graduated from Wicomico Senior High School in 1964 and attended Mitchell College in Statesville, N.C., before joining the U.S. Army in 1967. He served with the 3rd Infantry Honor Guard at Fort Myer in Arlington, Va., with details that included Presidential Inaugurations and funerals. He worked for Delmarva Power and later for various heating and air businesses in the Salisbury area. He volunteered at the Delmar VFW, was Legionnaire and member of the Hebron American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Lappin and Ralph Riggin.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Cooper Riggin; his daughter, Kimberly Botdorf; his son, Shawn Riggin; four grandchildren; his sisters, Linda Purcell, Kathy Marshall and Cindy Harvey; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Thursday, Mar. 16, 2017, at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment, with military honors, followed in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
