FEDERALSBURG - Joe Louis Bolden Sr., 69, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.
He was born on June 22, 1938, son of the late Harmon Walter Bolden and Elizabeth Cannon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Alice U. Bolden on March 1, 2006.
He was a true sportsman enjoying fishing, hunting and the great outdoors.
Mr. Bolden is survived by his eight children, Joe Louis Ricketts (Deborah) of Princess Anne, Wanda Murray Knight (Michael) of Federalsburg, Richard "Ricky Bolden (LaSonja) of Hurlock, Darryl Bolden of Federalsburg, Keith Bolden of Westover, Vera Bolden of Federalsburg, Margo Ricks (David) of Federalsburg, Fernandez Bolden (Toya) of Bridgeville; two stepsons, Michael Briggs of Washington, D.C., and Jeffrey Butler (Ann) of Federalsburg; his mother-in-law, Margaret Prattis of Hurlock; a number of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; five brothers, Eugene Bolden (Jeanette) of Bridgeville, Del., Robert Bolden (Mary) of Wilmington, Del., Joseph Walker (Betty) of Bridgeville, James Walker of Chester, Pa., Leroy Wing (Julia) of Greenwood, Del.; and a sister, Ella Walker of Bridgeville; two brothers-in-law, Herman Prattis (Beverly) of Hurlock, Larry Turner (Rita) of Washington; three sisters-in-law, Mary Freeman of Seaford, Del., Cynthia Brummell (Kevin Jr.) and Juanita Harmon (Theodore Sr.) all of Preston, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Beulah, Marian Cannon, and two brothers, Johnny Walker and Freeman Walker.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at Framptom Funeral Home, PA in Federalsburg with Dr. J. Anthony Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Federal Hill Cemetery in Federalsburg.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
