Dorchester Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the kickoff of a new music happening on June 16, titled “Circuits,” hosted by local musician Jim Loretangeli. This is the first of a series to be held on third Thursdays in the main gallery at DCA, from 6:30-8 p.m.
The evening is an open collaborative forum for keyboard enthusiasts, with an emphasis on fun. Bring your electronic keyboard or percussion instrument and stand and join like-minded others playing and discussing their instruments. The sound system and a power connection will be provided. There is no charge to attend.
Loretangeli is a multi-instrumentalist, noted for contemporary progressive rock and fusion instrumentals. Find his music at jimloretangeli.bandcamp.com.
On Saturday, July 9, at 7 p.m., Loretangeli will present a full-length concert in the George B. Todd Performance Hall, featuring material from his two solo albums, “All the World” and “The Right Angel.” The music contains elements of progressive rock, jazz fusion and new age, and draws from his many influences, including Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Frank Zappa, Sting, Herbie Hancock, Joni Mitchell, Weather Report, Chick Corea, Patrick O'Hearn, Mike Oldfield and many others. Admission is $20, with tickets available on Eventbrite.
A preview of Loretangeli’s music can be heard as he performs live on the Gallery Stage during the Second Saturday Reception on June 11 for the Annual Members’ Show. The reception will be held from 5-7 p.m., with Jim onstage at 5:30. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
