VIENNA - Jeanette B. Hughes, 73, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
She was born at East New Market on June 16, 1934 and was a daughter of the late Everett and Clara Vivian Phillips Bradshaw Sr.
She graduated from East New Market High School, and also attended college in Delaware.
On Nov. 5, 1955 she was married to Elbert John Hughes. Mr. Hughes passed away on March 14, 1988.
She worked as a legal secretary for Judge William B. Yates and also for Maurice C. Lewis for over 30 years. She later worked for the Clerk of Court's office in Dorchester County for a number of years.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Company. She was stricken suddenly on Saturday morning and was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Survivors include a son, Thomas P. Hughes of Vienna; one brother, Everett Bradshaw of Vienna and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans' Cemeterym at Beulah.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home.
