CAMBRIDGE - James Nathaniel Pinder Sr., 52, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Pines in Easton.
He was born Oct. 12, 1955 in Cambridge, the son of Helen B. Pinder and the late Granville A. Pinder. He attended the Dorchester County public schools.
Mr. Pinder was known to many as "Pinder, Sandy or Sammy."
For many years, he was employed by Meredith Auto Sales, Johnson Motors and Preston GMC, as a car detailer and later became self-employed.
Mr. Pinder is survived by his mother, Helen B. Pinder (Cephas); one son, James N. Pinder Jr. (Tamiko); one daughter, Mercy Y. Pinder (Yvette), both of Cambridge; five grandchildren, Mykeria Nichelle Ennels, Tiera Jasnasia Collins, Dajawan Marquon Jackson, TyJuan Se'Quan Johnson, Ti Ambray Amari, Ai Jahnay Johnson; two brothers, Jermone A. Pinder of Cambridge and Paul S. Pinder Sr. of Berlin. He is also survived by one uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Cephas of Cambridge; two nieces, Lakeshia Pinder-Brown (Walter) of Cambridge and Terah Pinder of Atlanta, Ga.; one nephew, Paul S. Pinder II of Annapolis; one great-niece, Tearra Brown and two great-nephews, Quinton and Andrew Jackson of Cambridge; a number of cousins and two special friends, Geraldine Woolford and Pamela Waters both of Cambridge.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his uncles, Columbus, Robert and Jefferson Cephas of Cambridge; his aunts, Hannah Stevens, Evelyn Waller (Cephas), and Arlene Cephas, all of Cambridge.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Greater Chief Cornerstone Church, 605 Race St., Cambridge. Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bennie Smith Funeral Home.
