CAMBRIDGE - James M. Coll, 70, passed away at the Dorchester General Hospital on Saturday, March 22, 2008.

He was born April 24, 1937 in Cambridge and was a son of the late Dr. Thomas L. and Kathleen "Boots" Henry Coll.

He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1955, and always enjoyed attending the class reunions. Jim worked as a surveyor for 40 years.

On Feb. 4, 1978 he was married to the former Ann Chance. Jim enjoyed building as well as flying model airplanes and was a member of the Eastern Shore Aero modelers Club, Salisbury Hawks Model Airplane Club and Choptank Model Yacht Club as well as various other model clubs. His passion was sailing his model yachts as well as flying and showing his model airplanes. Jim had been in failing health for the past several months.

Survivors include his wife, Ann C. Coll of Cambridge; three sons, Fred Coll and his wife, Judy Coll of Auburn, N.Y., Dan Coll and his wife, Chong Coll of Manchester, MD and Tom Hurley III, and his wife, Tammy Hurley of Upper Fairmont; two daughters, Judy Sensel of Manassas, Va. and Tammy Hurley of Silver Spring. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas H. Coll.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Samuel H. McWilliams and the Rev. A. Delmer Willey Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Burial was at Dorchester Memorial Park.
