FEDERALSBURG - James Frank "PeeWee" Weiland, 80, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at his home.
Born in Federalsburg on Aug. 19, 1927, he was the son of the late J. Lewis and Mary Emma Motz Weiland.
Mr. Weiland was a graduate of the Federalsburg High School, Class of 1944, and worked for the former Caroline Poultry of Federalsburg for 27 years before becoming a tax and permit agent for many of the area"s truckers.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1622 in Easton and of the Blackwater Honga Game Dinner, in which he actively participated for many years.
Mr. Weiland was an avid fisherman and loved fishing and hunting in the marshes of Dorchester County. He also loved spending time with his wife in Ocean City.
Mr. Weiland is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Rose Arearo, whom he married on March 24, 1956; one brother, Lamar Weiland and his wife, Gladys of Salisbury and by one granddaughter, Rachel Jane Maxey of Trappe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jay Frank Weiland, A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Rev. Danese Collins of Union United Methodist Church, Federalsburg, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery.
