HURLOCK — At approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday evening Cambridge police apprehended a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting Friday afternoon, in Hurlock. Brandon Milton, 33, of Hurlock, was arrested on a warrant for charges of first- and second-degree murder. Police responded at 2:40 p.m. Friday to reports of an altercation, and shots fired, to the 200-block of Gold Rush Lane in Hurlock. There they found Floyd Cain Jr, 45, of the 4200-block of Railroad Avenue, Hurlock, with multiple gunshot wounds. Cain was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Del., where he was later pronounced dead, police said. Witnesses near the scene told investigators they saw Milton shoot Cain twice with a handgun. According to Lt. Justin Todd of the Cambridge P.D., an anonymous phone call tipped Cambridge Police that a car matching the description of the wanted suspect had been spotted on the 900 block of High Street in Cambridge late Saturday afternoon. Cambridge city police responded to the scene, and were unable to locate the vehicle. However, another officer who had just came on duty saw the suspect vehicle, a two-tone black PT Cruiser, turning off of Academy Road onto Maryland Avenue. All units were alerted and the vehicle was stopped on eastbound US Rt. 50 at Bramble Street. With the assistance of the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect, Brandon Milton, 33, of the 4700-block of Jones Village Road in Hurlock, was arrested and turned over to the Maryland State Police. According to Lt. Todd, on apprehension the suspect put his hands out the window of the vehicle, and complied with police orders without a struggle. “I’m the one you’re looking for,” he said to the officers when he was removed from the vehicle, said Lt. Todd. The incident slowed traffic for a half-hour or so and drew bystanders. One woman who did not want to be identified said she saw the Cambridge Police order the man to get out of the car but he refused. She said they pulled him out of the car without undue force while the suspect simply “smirked.” Cambridge PD was quick to note the arrest on their Facebook page. “CAUGHT by Cambridge PD and our community partnership, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police. Thank you for the cooperation,” the post reads.
