A short program will get underway at 9 a.m. on the build site at 408A Charles St. Following the morning program, Habitat Choptank Board members from Dorchester and Talbot counties will be volunteering on site for a team build. Those who are interested in volunteering with the nonprofit are also invited to come out that Saturday. From 10 a.m. – noon, community members can drop by the Hurlock Town Office to visit with Habitat Choptank representatives about the many volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are needed for construction on the Hurlock house. Work will take place at the Charles Street jobsite on Tuesdays and Saturdays under the supervision of Habitat Choptank’s construction staff. Tools will be provided on site. Volunteers may come out as individuals or in small groups of 4-8 people. “While construction is the most visible way people volunteer with us, there are many other ways people can lend their time and talents,” explains Board President Greg Whitten. From qualifying home buyers to identifying land for purchase, and from helping in the office to assisting at the ReStore, volunteers make a difference throughout the organization. For information about homeownership, to volunteer with Habitat Choptank or to make a donation, visit www.habitatchoptank.org or call 410-476-3204.
