Howard Cornish

FRUITLAND - Howard Cornish, Jr., died Wednesday, Apr. 5, 2017, at his home. Born in Allen, he was the son of the late Helen Cornish and Howard Covington Cornish. His late wife, Catherine Whittington Cornish, died in 1998.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for Deer's Head State Center for 33 years as a Direct Care Assistant, retiring in 1990. He was also formerly employed with the former Fisher House Oyster Plant in Deal Island, and as a self-employed farmer.
He was a member of the former Liberia Church in Marion Station and an associate member of Friendship U.M. Church.
Four brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
His survivors include seven children, Cynthia and Angela Cornish, of Fruitland, Craig, of Welcome, Arnold, of Frederick, Ronald, of Laurel, Howard, of Lanham, and Tyrone Cornish, of Ridgely; 18 grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Rider, of Westminster, and Shirley Smith, of Wilmington; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, Apr. 11, 2017, at Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury. Interment was in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
