Hogan: 'Wear the damn masks'
Governor Larry Hogan said Marylanders ‘crushed the curve’ once, and can do it again as they fight the virus.
ANNAPOLIS — Maryland is facing increasing numbers of COVID-19 infections, as the weather cools and people spend more time indoors. Rural counties, including Dorchester, are among those with the highest rates.
“Maryland is reporting a seven-day average positivity rate of 6.45%, a slight decrease from yesterday, while total hospitalizations have increased by 47 to a total of 985,” Governor Larry Hogan said on Monday. “Our statewide case rate has increased to 28.2 per 100,000, and all 24 jurisdictions have case rates above 10 per 100,000.”
As of Nov. 13, statistics for Dorchester during the pandemic were:
• Confirmed cases: 933
• Active cases: 45
• Deaths: 13
• Patients now hospitalized: 4
• Female: 558
• Male: 375
The age group with the highest number of infections is 20-29 years old, with 155.
“The individual actions of each and every Marylander will determine whether we are able to withstand this fall surge and keep Maryland open for business,” the governor said. “Wash your hands, avoid crowds, practice physical distancing, and wear the damn masks.”
