SALISBURY - Helen Palmer died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Allen, she was the daughter of the late James Russell and Bessie Hunter Russell. She was a member of St. John Church in Fruitland, where she was an usher and missionary. She was also a volunteer food distributor and a self-employed day care provider. She is survived by her husband, James L. Palmer, Sr.; five children, Leroy Hunter, James L. Palmer, Jr., Carlos D. Palmer, Jonathan Russell and Marcia Palmer; four stepchildren, Tony Smith, Bonnie Smith, Faye Smith and Terri Smith; four sisters, Josephine Russell, Joyce Russell, Frances Russell, and Norma Lee Hunter; three brothers, Willie Russell, Alfred Russell and James Russell; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She will lie in repose on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 528 Booth St., Salisbury. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park in Salisbury. Arrangements are in the care of Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
