CAMBRIDGE — The Heart of Chesapeake Country Heritage Area seeks nominations from the community for its Annual Heritage Awards. Each year, the Management Board recognizes the accomplishments of community partners with awards in several categories: • Individual Achievement • Outstanding Project • Organizational Excellence • Business Partnership Nomination Process Nominations are due in the Heart of Chesapeake Country Heritage Area office by 5 on Aug. 5. There are several simple ways to nominate someone: 1. Find ONLINE nomination form, fill out, and hit submit. 2. Email ONLINE form to: Katie@VisitDorchester.org. 3. Print ONLINE form and mail to: Katie Clendaniel, 2 Rose Hill Place, Cambridge, MD 21613. 4. Write name, address, reason and award nomination and deliver to Dorchester County Visitor Center in most convenient way. Any individual or organization can make nominations for awards. Self-nominations are also encouraged. Selection and Announcement A committee of community members and staff will review nominations and make their recommendations for awards to the Heritage Area Management Board who then votes for all awards. Awards will be presented at the Annual Heritage Awards Event on Sept. 22. Watch for details! Outstanding Project: The Outstanding Project Award was shared by three organizations: Grace Foundation of Taylors Island, Old Trinity Church Association, and Taylors Island Volunteer Fire Company for their collaboration on the Battle of the Ice Mound Reenactment. Organizational Excellence: The Richardson Maritime Museum received the 2015 Organizational Excellence Award. Business Partners: The Travers Family accepted the Business Partner Award for their many decades of operating the Simmons Center Market in Cambridge.
