HURLOCK - Hattie Thompson, 85, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2007, at the Anchorage Nursing Home in Salisbury.
She was born April 8, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Cecelia Stanley and William Hunt.
Mrs. Thompson was educated in the Dorchester County school system. She worked at various jobs, but loved to do hair. She wanted to become a beautician, but instead she helped her mom with her siblings.
She was a member of the Lighthouse Church of God in East New Market.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by one son, Thomas Thompson (Mary) of Houston, Del.; a granddaughter she raised as her own, Ida Stanley (Sylvester); two grandsons, Thomas Thompson Jr. of Hurlock and Larry Thompson of Cambridge; two granddaughters, Mildred Thompson of Hurlock and Joyce Thompson of Cambridge; six -great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Frederick Stanley of Hurlock, Algie Stanley of Railroad Hill, Alfred Stanley (Cora) of Williamsburg, James Stanley (Lucy) of Linkwood; one sister, Jeanette Nichols (Emerson) of Railroad Hill; an aunt, Esther Thompson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Monroe Stanley and a sister, Evelyn Stanley.
Funeral services will be held noon Saturday at Faith Community United Methodist Church in East New Market where friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will follow in the East New Market Cemetery.
