CRISFIELD - Harry O. Ulvila, 71, formerly of Massachusetts, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at his home.

Born in Quincy, Mass., on Feb. 8, 1935, he was the son of the late Eino and Aune Seppala Ulvila of Finland. He had been a resident of Crisfield for six years.

He was a graduate of Pembroke High School in Pembroke, Mass., and attended North Eastern University in Boston. He was a retired co-owner of the former Coastal Yachts in Massachusetts and earlier, was first vice president of sales with Cape Dory Yachts in Massachusetts and Maine.

Accepted in the Air Cadet Flight Training Program, Mr. Ulvila was a highly decorated U.S. Air Force veteran. A true "Top Gun," he was a fighter pilot who completed two tours of duty in Vietnam, and served in excess of 14 years. He was very proud of his military service, and remained very close to his Air Force family.

He was a member of the Massachusetts Marine Traders Association, and formerly served on the Annemessex Ridge Board.

He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Ann Ulvila of Crisfield; a daughter, Laura Barron of Duxbury, Mass.; a son, Eric Ulvila of Duxbury, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Gabrielle Barron, Lily Ulvila and Thomas Barron.

Funeral services with military honors by the U.S. Air Force were held Jan. 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Mariners United Methodist Church in Crisfield. The Rev. Stephen S. Willing officiated.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be sent to the Somerset County Library System for Youth Literacy Programs, 11767 Beechwood St., Princess Anne, MD 21853. Condolences to the family may be made by visiting www.bradshawandsonsfuneralhome.com.
