EASTON — Guiding Eyes for the Blind’s Delmarva Puppy Raising Region will hold an Open House on Oct. 27 from 6-8 pm at The Holiday Inn Express on US Route 50 in Easton. The public is invited to attend to learn more about the puppy raising program and meet some special pups and their raisers. Snacks and beverages will be served. Children are welcome and the event is free.
Volunteer puppy raisers come from all walks of life and include couples, families with children, young adults and seniors. Raisers welcome 8 week old puppies into their homes and receive the full support of Guiding Eyes, including training classes and free vet care. Puppy raisers love, nurture, educate and socialize the puppies for 14-16 months before sending them off to their calling as a guide dog for a blind or visually impaired person.
Orientation and training classes for those interested in becoming puppy raisers will be held the following two Tuesday evenings, Nov. 3 and 10 at First Baptist Church on Idlewild Avenue in Easton.
