DELMAR - Grace Isabelle "Izzy" Adkins died Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Laurel, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Sarah Whaley Johnson. She worked as a presser at the WR Wilson Pants Factory for 25 years, then worked several years at the Banks & Pusey Garment Factory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Adkins Sr., in 1985; and a son, George "Eddie" Adkins Jr. She is survived by sons, Joseph Adkins, of Millsboro and Scott Adkins, of Delmar; daughters, Bonnie Evans, of Delmar, Sharon Shockley, of Laurel and Brenda Evans, of Delmar; 11 grandchildren; several great- and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Roland Johnson, of Camden, Del., and Howard James Johnson, of Laurel; and sisters, Ann Wainwright, of Delmar and Gloria Milligan, of Laurel; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Monday, May 8, 2017, at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Interment followed at Powellville Cemetery.
