SALISBURY - Gladys B. Byrd, 93, of Salisbury, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late, Robert and Beatrice Mayberry. She was a telephone operator for 32 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, painting and going to yard sales. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Morris of Salisbury; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles Byrd Sr.; and son, Charles "Butch" Byrd Jr. A memorial service was held Saturday at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
