SALISBURY - George Wilbert Heath, known by all as Mack, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born May 4, 1924, in Exmore, Va., son of the late Wilbert Heath and Frances Moore Heath.
Mr. Heath was educated in the public schools of Craddockville County, Va. He was joined in holy matrimony to Lillie Mae Blake Heath of Stockton, and from this union there were 11 children born. Mrs. Heath preceded him in death.
He attended The House of Love Church in Pocomoke City.
Mr. Heath was employed for 30 years as a school bus driver for Accomack County, Va. Public Schools. He was also a long distance truck driver for numerous years, employed by Cropper Brother Lumber Co. until his retirement in 1987.
He is survived by two sons, George Heath Jr. of Pocomoke City, the Rev. Clarence Heath (Jan) of Princess Anne; seven daughters, Edith Ballard (Ernest) of Columbia, Alice Heath and Magalene Molock (Keith) of Cambridge, Jeanette Heath of Princess Anne, Daisey Atkins (Stephen), Mary Heath and Patty Handy of Salisbury; two sisters, Elsie Mae Heath of Bronx, N.Y., Geraldine Heath and one brother, Leonard Heath, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and a close friend a companion, Agnes Smith and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Macedonia Baptist Church where the Rev. Isaac Jenkins is host pastor. The viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Home Beneficial Cemetery in Stockton.
The Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Pocomoke City is handling the arrangements.
