GEORGETOWN - George E. D. Stevenson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. George was born in Crisfield son of the late George and Cassie (Dize) Stevenson. George worked for many years as a mechanical estimator for Rogers Refrigeration. He served in the U.S. Army for four years during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge with the rank of PFC, he served in the National Guard where after many years received an honorable discharge as Sergeant. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, as well as, the Georgetown-Ellendale VFW Post 2931, where he enjoyed spending time with his fellow veterans and friends. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn (Sampson) Stevenson; four daughters, Brenda Stevenson, Gail Diskerud, Kathy Montgomery, and Cassie Stevenson Reed; and her sons, Tyler, Nathan and Owen Reed; nine grandchildren; one step-son, Jesse Wells; and one nephew, Steve Taylor. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018 in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements in the care of Short Funeral Services, Georgetown, Del.
